
Police are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 61-year-old man late Wednesday night in central Lubbock.
Officers responded shortly after 11 p.m. to reports of shots fired near the intersection of 38th Street and Wayne Avenue, according to the Lubbock Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found 61-year-old Richard Paul suffering from a gunshot wound.
Paul was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not announced any arrests in connection with the shooting, and authorities have not released information about a possible suspect or motive.
Police said there is currently no threat to the public stemming from the incident.
The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the case to come forward.
According to LPD, the Lubbock Crime Line is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification or arrest of the person responsible.
