Even though there were strong winds from the west on Monday afternoon, the weather has improved across the region since a Pacific front passed through earlier in the day. Dewpoints were much lower than on Sunday, making the air dry and more comfortable for most people.

It was dry outside and very hot during the day, which caused some brief, high-level convection in the afternoon. Instability from eastern New Mexico is causing these clouds to form, which will likely continue spreading across the area into the evening. But it's not going to rain a lot. At most, a few sprinkles might happen before the skies clear up again at sunset.

Tuesday, the weather will be mild and friendly, with sunny skies, light winds, and highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

The weather will stay warmer and drier until Thursday, when it will change again.

Starting Thursday night, a weak system could bring thunderstorms to some eastern parts of the area in the afternoon and evening.

As Memorial Day weekend gets closer, the chances of these storms are likely to grow and spread out across the region.

Even though bad weather isn't expected right now, if you plan to be outside over the holiday weekend, you might need to prepare for rain or storms, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Forecasters recommend keeping an eye on new forecasts all week because the storm's time and path may change.
