With the arrival of summer, families are expected to flock to Lubbock’s parks, which are likely to see significant attendance. Before organizing a picnic or arranging a football game, it is advisable to familiarize oneself with the city's park regulations, as some of these rules may surprise even the most seasoned residents.

Lubbock has implemented a comprehensive set of regulations to safeguard its parks' natural beauty. The city has established regulations beyond the typical prohibitions against parking on the grass and littering. Among these rules are restrictions on picking flowers, utilizing metal detectors, and digging in grassy areas. Restrictions extend to attaching ropes or wires to trees, which is prohibited.

A notable regulation emphasizes that no organized or “sanctioned” sports games may take place without the necessary permit. While informal games are acceptable, obtaining prior approval for league play or events is essential.

Are you considering a horseback ride through the park? The city has decided to reject that option as well. With the exception of designated areas, riding, leading, or driving horses, mules, donkeys, or similar animals through parks is prohibited. At present, no such areas have been established.
