On Sunday, June 15, all-state athlete Kaegan Ash from Mount Enterprise in East Texas committed to play football for Texas Tech in 2026. Ash is a significant addition to the school's recruiting class. Ash won statewide awards as a fullback, but the Red Raiders think he will be better as a safety in college.

A 6-foot-2, 205-pound man named Ash shared his decision on social media after visiting Lubbock over the weekend. National schools were interested in him because he could play both sides of the ball well and was versatile.

Ash ran for 1,960 yards and 32 touchdowns on 244 runs as a junior, even though he missed four games because of injuries. He also caught a touchdown pass from 67 yards out and completed 30 two-point plays. On defense, he had 49 stops, nine of which were for loss. He also had 4.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and an interception return of 72 yards. It was due to his work that Mount Enterprise went 9-4 and advanced to the regional playoffs of Class 2A Division II.

Four Ivy League schools, Washington State, the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force are among the 14 programs that have offered Ash admission. Texas State, UTSA, UTEP, and Stephen F. Austin were also interested in him.

With Ash's pledge, the 2026 Red Raiders class of 13 players is even more impressive than it was before. Demarcus Marks (End) from Spring Westfield, Ayden Johnson (Lineman) and Krush Johnson (Amarillo Tascosa), and Cord Nolan and Tieson Ejiawoko (Linebacker) from Georgetown East View are some of the defensive players who will be joining him.

Stephen Cannon, an offensive lineman from Savannah, Georgia, Jerald "J.J." Mays, an offensive lineman from Pflugerville Weiss, and Jacob Crow, an offensive lineman from Alcoa, Tennessee, have all pledged to play for Texas Tech.

Ash is following in the footsteps of Kendre Miller, who is from Mount Enterprise and is now a running back for the New Orleans Saints after having a great time at TCU. Ash ran for 2,837 yards and 38 scores as a sophomore, showing that his success was not just a one-season thing.

The Red Raiders' defense is stronger and more versatile thanks to Ash's speed and ability to play both offense and defense. Head coach Joey McGuire is also making progress with recruits.
