Lubbock Equine Rescue Sets October Fundraiser for Horses in Need

Easy R Equine Rescue will hold its largest fundraiser of the year this fall as the nonprofit works to raise money for rescued horses across the South Plains.

The organization's 14th annual Heroes for Horses fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Organizers hope to raise $75,000 to support the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of horses that come into the organization's care.

According to the nonprofit, all proceeds generated during the event will go directly toward caring for abused, neglected, and displaced horses while preparing them for adoption into permanent homes.

This year's event will feature western personalities Matt and Kay Rush as guest hosts. Organizers said the pair will bring "liveliness and humor" to the evening's program.

Veteran auctioneer Rusty Durham will oversee the live auction, while Lubbock musician Kenny Maines will provide entertainment throughout the event.

Guests will have opportunities to participate in silent and live auctions, compete for raffle prizes and win door prizes during the evening fundraiser.

The event will take place at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion on the campus of Texas Tech University, located at 2680 Drive of Champions in Lubbock.

Tickets are available for $50 for adults ages 13 and older and $35 for children ages 12 and younger. Organizers are also offering reserved tables for eight guests for $300, providing a discounted option for businesses, families, and community groups wishing to attend together.

Founded in 2009, Easy R Equine Rescue has focused on helping horses removed from unsafe situations and finding them permanent placements after rehabilitation. The organization relies heavily on donations and community fundraising efforts to support veterinary care, feed, transportation, and adoption services.

Organizers encourage supporters to purchase tickets early as they work toward reaching this year's fundraising goal and expanding services for horses in need across West Texas.
