Lubbock District 6 Councilman Tim Collins is focusing on long-term strategies to guarantee that the growing neighborhoods in west Lubbock are equipped with the necessary infrastructure for the future. One year into his term, Collins emphasizes that his priority has been to prepare the district for ongoing growth while ensuring the quality of life is maintained.

“As a council member, my focus has been on anticipating and addressing the needs that arise,” Collins stated. “We must focus on the future, making certain that the upcoming generation enjoys the same opportunities and quality of life that we experienced.”

Collins, formerly associated with LEDA and Market Lubbock, emphasized the establishment of a Tax Increment Finance District (TIF) as a significant advancement for his district. The TIF is poised to finance the creation of a new park, which is expected to enhance property values and offer essential green space for families.

“A project like the park brings advantages to the city in several ways,” Collins explained. “This area provides us with additional green space and allows us to have more oversight over that specific location.”

Alongside the park developments, District 6 is experiencing advancements in road enhancements supported by Lubbock’s latest road bond initiatives. The recent enhancements are designed to alleviate congestion and support the growing traffic demands on the west side of the city.

A significant element of the district's infrastructure strategy is the establishment of a new west water pressure plane. Collins stated that the enhanced water system will not only assist District 6 but will also positively impact neighboring District 5 by guiding future development plans and locations.

Collins emphasized the crucial importance of investing in water and electricity infrastructure for achieving sustainable growth. “Anticipating future utility requirements guarantees that as our city grows, we can uphold dependable services and a superior quality of life,” he stated.

As development surges in West Lubbock, Collins emphasizes that the district's proactive strategy will lay a solid groundwork for both current residents and those yet to come.
