A photographer documented the 9/11 attacks from a New York rooftop. Mark Umstot captured images of the World Trade Center that day, an experience he describes as brutal. He felt a sense of helplessness, watching people die while feeling his hands were tied.
Umstot's photos froze a historic moment in time, but he did not look at them again for a decade. Umstot grew up in Lubbock and later moved to the Northeast, where he began his photography career. He now takes photos at major events and non-profit fundraisers.
