As of Thursday, Lubbock’s average gas price stood at $2.63 per gallon—a one-cent increase from last week’s $2.62. Compared to the previous year, when prices averaged $2.89, local drivers are seeing a noticeable year-over-year drop at the pump.

AAA Texas noted that while Lubbock’s prices remain among the most affordable in the state, they are still far below the record high of $4.52 per gallon set on June 14, 2022. Statewide, gas prices remain stable in most regions, reflecting relatively steady crude oil prices and consistent fuel supply.

The report also highlights that the lowest prices in Texas were recorded in Sherman-Denison, while some metropolitan areas, including El Paso and Midland, continue to see averages above the state’s mean price.

AAA advises motorists to monitor local fuel price trends, as late summer travel demand and potential hurricane activity in the Gulf could cause fluctuations in the coming weeks. For now, however, Lubbock residents can enjoy some of the cheapest gas in the state—and a small cushion in their summer travel budgets.
