According to municipal authorities and economic development officials, Chick-fil-A Supply plans to establish a $50 million distribution center in Lubbock. Construction is set to begin in May, and the project is estimated to produce roughly 80 jobs.

A press release from the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance shared that the new building will be in the Lubbock Business Park and is part of the company's larger plan to improve its supply chain infrastructure.

The building will be a tri-temperature distribution center, which means it will store and distribute food and other related items in regulated settings, such as refrigerated, frozen, and dry storage. The portal will help Chick-fil-A's expanding network of restaurants by making it easier to get products to them more quickly across the region.

Company officials said that Lubbock's location and logistical benefits were major reasons for choosing the city for the investment. The building is planned to be close to Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport, which will make it easier for distribution operations to get to transportation networks.

Dan Marques, senior director for Chick-fil-A Supply operations, said, "We are excited to open our newest distribution center in Lubbock. We are grateful to Mayor McBrayer, the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, and all of our Lubbock community partners who have welcomed us and worked hard to make this happen." "Lubbock gives us access to skilled workers and strategic benefits that help us better meet the needs of our owner-operators and restaurants in the area. We are excited about our investment in this community."

The project is planned to create about 80 jobs across logistics, transportation, and warehouse work. Officials estimated that, over the next 10 years, those jobs will pay an average of $60,000 per year.

Local leaders said that the new construction will help the city's economy and workers.

Mayor Mark McBrayer said, "We are happy to have Chick-fil-A Supply in Lubbock." "Their dedication to the community and strong company values are in line with the values we hold dear as a city." This investment will give families in our excellent community chances for a long time to come.

John Osborne, president and CEO of the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, noted that the project makes the city a better place for logistics.

Osborne said, "We are proud to help bring an industry-leading company like Chick-fil-A Supply to Lubbock in a way that benefits our whole community, brings in new money, creates new jobs, and makes Lubbock an even better place for distribution and logistics."

Christy Martinez-Garcia, the councilwoman for District 1, said that the investment will create real opportunity for people who live there, especially in north Lubbock.

"This project gives our residents good jobs with good pay and a great company culture. I am proud to welcome them to the Lubbock community," she said.
