As schools and colleges in the South Plains set their start dates for the new school year, students and teachers are preparing to return to school.
August 13 is the first day of school for Lubbock ISD, Lubbock-Cooper ISD, and Frenship ISD, which are the three biggest school systems in the area.
Parents need to complete the necessary preparations, including obtaining tools, arranging transportation, and acquiring other essential items, before the back-to-school date.
Later this month, colleges and universities start classes.
August 25 is the first day of classes at Texas Tech University, Lubbock Christian University, and South Plains College. August 11 is the first day of classes at Wayland Baptist University.
Families should check the district and university websites for the most up-to-date information on school events, registration, and plans, say school leaders.
In the following weeks, many schools will also have meet-the-teacher nights, orientations, and resource fairs.
